WELCOME TO 2018 WTCA SUMMER CONFERENCE SITE!I am pleased to let you know the Registration Site for the 7th Annual WTCA Summer Conference is now open for business. We are very excited about this year’s conference on a number of levels and expect it to be the biggest and best yet!
Last years conference broke all previous records with over 170 registrants, 19 sponsors, and excellent feedback from you, the attendees! We strive to provide you with an outstanding professional development experience at a value. Our efforts were rewarded last year through your positive feedback.
We are extremely excited to have Dr. Rosie Phillips Davis as our Keynote Speaker this year. Dr. Davis is the current President-Elect of the American Psychological Association. She will be discussing Poverty and Persistence. Our conference Pre-Cons (Yes! Two to choose from this year!) will be held from 3:00 to 6:00p.m. on Friday, June 8th. Dr. Kent Butler will return with a continuation / new research on the role / impact of the AMCD Multicultural Social Justice Counseling Competencies as they relate to counseling practice and research. As a member of AMCD’s Multicultural Counseling Competencies Revisions Committee (2014 – 2015), Dr. Butler helped produce the newly endorsed Multicultural Social Justice Counseling Competencies (MSJCC). Dr. Butler was bestowed with an ACA Fellow Award in April of 2016 and is a Past President of AMCD. In addition, the American Red Cross, Midsouth Chapter, will conduct initial training for certification as a Disaster Mental Health volunteer.
